- Data (Packet data modes)
Data transfer modes that are based on packet switching method rather than circuit switching, and offer a much faster and more efficient data transfer. For more information and comparision see for example here.
- MMS (MMS support)
Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is a standard for telephone messaging systems that allows sending messages that include multimedia objects (images, audio, video, rich text) and not just text as in Short Message Service (SMS).
- RAM memory (RAM memory)
RAM (Random access memory ) is the internal memory of the phone used to execute programs etc.
- Display technology (Display technology)
Display technology in use. The options (from worse to best) are STN (LCD), CSTN (Color STN), TFT (Thin-Film Transistor), and OLED (organic light-emitting diode). The first three are all based on LCD technology, which unlike OLED, do require backlight.
- Storage memory (Built-in storage memory)
Built-in storage memory expresses the amount of memory space available for storage of ringtones, pictures, videos, games etc. The most commonly used memory type is flash.
The overall phone quality appears to be very good...HOWEVER... As with almost all Nokia Phones, I get "pathetic" receptionsignal strength in my neighborhood ( a 5 bar area within T-Mobile)I get 0 or 1 bar normally- a MAQXIMUM signal is 2 bars, where I constantly cannot use the phone due to no network coverage error messages I get when attempting to dial out... However from my home I can use the WiFi feature with my home's wireless network, which does not work when I'm at a neighbor's house... OTHER manufacturers mobile phones do not have this same problem in my area> only nokia
The design is minimalist and kinda beautiful, imo. The features are very good for a phone in this price range and it feels solid and comfortable in the hand.
Battery power is hit by a bright display and a poor default power conservation policy - but it's not too bad, giving about 3 days with moderate usage.
Quality is a bit poor, I think. I turned on voice enhancement and noticed a terrible whine/howl that would occour for a second when I answered a call. I turned off voice enhancement and expected the problem to go away - it didn't.
Another issue is with small cracks that appear in the keypad.
Defects of any kind are not something I'd associate with Nokia, who normally make rock-solid workmanlike handsets that quietly impress you. This phone is immediately attractive, but over time you notice faults. This is not the Nokia way.
Still, I'd recommend it, since not every phone is affected in the same way, and I know many people who have had no problems with them.
I have the nokia 6300 since feb 07 and usually nokia phones are good but this is the worst phone ive ever had. The battery only lasts and day. And regurarly it doesnt recieve sms messages and just turns itself off. I know others who have had similiar problems with this phone, clearly the was some mistake during manufacturing this particular phone as usually nokias are very good. I would not recommend anyone to buy this phone!!
DO NOT BUY A NOKIA PHONE I bought a Nokia 6300 December 2007. I had a problem with it in April 2008 so I took it back. they fixed it, at least that’s what I thought I then had the same problem August, so I sent it back I then got it back 3 weeks later and turned the phone on and it STILL had the same problem. At this point I was furious with Nokia and I sent back the phone, they returned and said it needed charging. I then turned the phone on and it still had the same problem. They then replaced my phone with a refurbished phone. I thought this was a good thing until I turned the phone on! It wouldn’t read any sim card!! I then took it back again asking for a new phone, they said that that is not there policy, so they fixed this phone. All they did was clean it and when I got it back it was STILL broken. After arguing with the head of Nokia for 5 weeks, they replaced the phone!!!!!!!!
Yes the nokia 6300 is a great phone it is small, easy to use, and has a great battery life. The battery life can last up to 2 weeks!!!! (for me)
The only downside on the mobile is the camera is good but could be better its only 2mp, better if it was 3.2mp or 5mp!!!
OVERALL RATE 4/5 GREAT PHONE!!!!!
Mmmm! Well it does what it says on the tin, and it does that pretty darn well!small and comfortable to lug around, excellent reception were other phone models fall down, dont understand the critisism of battery life as personaly mine lasts for ages, obviously ive not as many friends to phone as the other raters ;-)
Very poor sound for actual phone use. Nokia have suffrered from this since introducing slim phones. Sound good on headphones for radio etc. Good strong tuner for radio. My phone would not send text messages until I bought an sd micro card! Dealer could not sort problem. Poor quality as camera. Cannot send or receive picture messages. Dealer cannot sort problem. Battery life v good. Many folk complain about battery life on this model. Maybe they did not give full uninterrupted first charge.
Excellent features with the usual Nokia slickness and ease of use. Solid firm metalic casing. Excellent sound quality with graphic equaliser. Full screen video playback with 3gp videos. Some people have had problems with new memory card recognition. Can get it cheaper than quoted here. Battery life is not that good.
