The software giant would not elaborate on whether this was the end of the 120GB model HDD, but it appears that way. Expect a 250GB HDD release in the EU and US territories soon enough.
you think everybody would have one if they wanted one by know.
I ain't paying for online and Ps3 looks better on screen.
I would take an x-box over a wii though
They had these at FutureShop (Canadian store) for $80 not too long ago, still didn't feel like spending that much on one...
errr...... whats the point if you have to have tit split into 50 different partitions?
A 120GB hard Drive for "only" $129.99. What a great deal Microsoft.

didnt they do a price mark up for the cost of the parts for this when they first came out? wasnt it like 90 bucks to make everything.. and im sure the price dropped since.. filthy thieves

Quote:I have to agree, 1.5 terabyte drives are selling for that. Put the extra platters in it and stop raping people. Can anyone tell me why they are even still making drives with so little capacity, with the technology out now???Originally posted by lxfactor:It'd probably be more like $40-50 to make now. The differences are minimal though.

Quote:Your absolutely right, 129 for a 120 gig HD is a special kind of bargain. What was I thinking? Apples to apples, you can buy a 500 gig laptop HD for around 90 bucks retail. Manufacturers that buy them in bulk get them for far less. Are you still running legacy hardware?Originally posted by llongtheD:You're comparing 2.5" HDDs to 3.5" HDDs...2.5" ones are ALWAYS going to be considerably more (esp. for the highest capacity).

And there are still needs for lower capacity HDDs due to TONS of legacy hardware out there.
they use enterprise drives last I checked that's 30% of the price but really they want to micromanage the HDD and gain as much profit from the hardware as possible, their hardware platform their premium and you have to pay for it like with ipple crap....
wont it be fun though if the new 250GB HDD will cost more than the xbox itself though? i think were all in for a laugh sometime soon
Quote:The xbox doesn't really need a hard drive bigger than 60gb. I'm still using the 20g and I've downloaded almost every dlc for the major games (halo, cod, left 4 dead etc). I even have a few gigs left. The only reason that anybody would need a hard drive bigger than 60gb is if they installed every game to the hard drive and download movies from zune.Quote:I have to agree, 1.5 terabyte drives are selling for that. If you want games installed, gotta go with 250 GB. So much faster at loading games, it's worth it.
I got the WD hackable one for $45 from Newegg and it's working perfectly. My box is a bit of a Frankenstein though (not JTAG-able, still not banned):
Xenon with X-Clamp fix on both CPU and GPU, Spoofed BenQ drive to Hitachi with 1.61 firmware, and hacked 250 GB HDD (which is a WD spoofed to Hitachi)

...but it still does not explain why sony refuses to make a 500GB PS3.
there HardDrives have been WD's So far, with a minor few being Seagate's. its the special firmware they use to lock the drives that cost so much plus about 10 bucks for the caddie.
other than that there your garden variety laptop HDDs.
they should just release the 320's already.
120 GB 360 Hd's on ebay go for 50-70$ brand spanking new all day long so I laugh at that price cut. Thanks Hong Kong ebayerzzzz for the last 3 I've bought :)
