Intel hires Will.i.am as Creative Director Will.i.am, the frontman of the Grammy-award winning group The Black Eyed Peas has been hired by Intel as a Creative Director this week, continuing his work at Dipdive on a grander scale.
Dipdive uses "new media to mobilize politics, social issues and music."

The musician will now be a director of creative innovations for Intel.

Says Will.i.am (via Boombox)

Nearly everything I do involves processors and computers, and when I see an Intel chip I think of all the creative minds involved that help to amplify my own creativity. Teaming up with the scientists, researchers and computer programmers at Intel to collaborate and co-develop new ways to communicate, create, inform and entertain is going to be amazing.

Adds Intel VP Deborah Conrad:

We're thrilled to tap into the limitless creativity will.i.am brings to the table. He's not only a brilliant artist and producer, but also an innovator pushing the bounds of technology professionally and personally. We share a strong interest in innovation around music, art and lifestyle, and are excited to join forces to establish an authentic, emotional connection with consumers.

The musician will be in charge of "elevating" the customer experience of laptops, smartphones and tablets that should "marry" music and technology.

So his job is to install quality speakers in some devices? Or is his job just to tell someone else to do this?

ive actualy been listening to the black eyed peas (some old stuff and some new).considering most the music he makes is digitally altered and some of the video clips are digital altered he might actually have some great ideas.then again he might screw up intel like he did with the song time of my life.

He can't do too much damage at this point...McAfee will beat him to it.

What qualifications or even experience does this guy have?

Ok so he just uses a computer. Then I guess anyone with money can be a creative director. Another stupid move on Intel's part, besides buying McAfee, which was really stupid, now this one takes the cake. Hopefully they don't give this boozo too much control, I plan on buying an Ivy-Bridge laptop late this year, he better not screw it up for everyone with his "creative innovations".

actually i think anyone that has creative skills and basic computer knowledge can become one providing they have a good reputation.im assuming his job is to come up with the ideas and its the staff with the qualifications that do the technical stuff and make the ideas come to life.

What a load of bolls what experience has this numpty got of anything regarding tech.

As usual all advertising spin to get all the black eyed peas and z-list celeb fans to go wooooooooo...

I thought Prince was a tosser changing his name but this guy is a real dobber...

Its sad that fancy names or fancy clothes or a fancy hairstyle (jeezus jedward) and minimal talent is what makes you successful these days - toss toss toss away toss...

I already know what's gonna happen. Either he will "suggest" a Black Eyed Peas labelled device, or have something such as a smartphone with Black Eyed Peas songs already loaded on. That's how this guy will connect music and technology together, even though it's been done for at least over 2 decades. Judging by the glasses, beard, and clothes he's wearing, this can only be disastrous.
