VSFilter (aka DirectVobSub) is a DirectShow filter that allows ripping subtitles from VOB files and, obviously, from DVDs.
Software is also capable of rendering ("playing" or "decoding") several different subtitle formats, making it a good choice for a "subtitle codec" for most purposes.
Software is a direct heir to the original VobSub software (VobSub's independent development has ceased a good while ago). Several video encoding/decoding tools make use of VSFilter.dll file found inside this package.
