This has very little to do with the topics of this site, but since the scene is quiet I may as well tell you about this.
I am sure that more and more people find Linux interesting and worth considering nowadays. But the downside is that in order to test it, you'd need to install it. But fortunately Linux is also available in CD-only distros - yes, it boots straight from a CD!

I downloaded (700mb ISO file) the Knoppix and gave it a whirl. It booted straight from the CD, being fully operational with a bunch of applications pre-installed and Internet up and running. Included are OpenOffice, KOffice, MP3 player, Mozilla web browser, instant messaging, etc.
Knoppix is fun to try and definitely a great way to make your first touch with Linux. On the other hand, it can be very useful emergency system. After all you can have Internet and Office tools up and running in a matter of minutes, if your Windows decides to get tangled.
