The Tor Project has released the beta version of their anonymous Tor Messenger chat client.
The client works on Tor's secure browsing system and will allow for out of the box "off-the-record" chats supporting Jabber (XMPP), IRC, Google Talk, Facebook Chat, Twitter, and Yahoo.

Tor says the client is based off the popular Instantbird, the messenger app built by the Mozilla dev community.
For the time being, Tor says the beta is a major work in progress so don't expect everything to work perfectly.
