I love my DS. I bought my four years ago and it still works great. The first thing you wanna do is buy a NDSTT card. Its the same size as a DS game card and its goes in same slot, it also has a micro SD slot. When you get that you wanna look up on youtube how to download free DS games. Games for real games on the DS are: Touch the Dead, both Zelda's. Ninja gaiden, Ultimate Mortal Kombat, Wario Ware, asphalt Urban gt,call of duty ALL, GTA china town, Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros., Mechanic Masters, Metal Slug 7, MegaMan all, Resident Evil and alot more to choose from. You can fit almost 40 games on a 2G Micro SD card. If you do this your Nintendo DS will never lease your side becasue your going to be having fun playing alot games. And best part is the games are FREE!!!!!!!

Very good unit, had some shocking games but traded them for better ones. Eragon and Spiderwick Chronicles are two EXCELLENT games,as is Prince Caspian. Had a play with the DSi, great, but you can't use the Guitar Hero in tour finger unit as no GBA slot. If it had that I'd get one ASAP. Still, very happy with the NDSL unit, better than my PSP and I use it instead of my PSP. Only problem is cost to buy in Australia, as well as finding decent games.
Offers a lot of cool games, though admittedly, these days none of them are very spectacular. Games like Super Mario 64 DS, Metroid Prime Hunters, and Advance Wars early on made the DS a great game system. These days, though, many of the games are half-assed, and attempt to push the DS's hardware passed what it's capable of (and it's 3D capabilities, while surprising at times, isn't always that good). Although around 50-70% of the games released for this system are neglectable, the rest are more than enough to buy the DS, just so long as you pick the right games.
Also, there are cartridges out that allow you to compress a large amount of your games into a micro sd card and play them at will, eliminating the hassle of carrying around a bunch of separate cartridges with you all the time. There's also some fun homebrew games and apps to play, some giving the DS video and mp3 player capabilities (though its ability as a video player is pretty limited). Overall, it's worth buying if you enjoy portable games that are more on the mild side, and aren't obsessed with spectacular graphics.
After owning the DS and PSP, I finally got the DS Lite. I have to say, this is the best portable system I have ever used. The gameplay is awesome and unique. Also get a iTouchDS or similar flash cartridge to enable emulators and media playback.
Well worth the money. Neat little device which has troubled the psp since its introduction and in my view is a better handheld console with unique and interesting games.
nintendo should stick to making unique games rather than bringing out the same copy of different games every year e.g. fifa games and just changing a few numbers around.
Overall good device but like i said nintendo should stick to the unique games and not 1s that are the same every year.
A pretty neat little system, even without the media and graphical capabilities of the PSP it outdoes it by the sheer number of great games for it. Just my humble opinion, of course.
It's a tad slim for my gorilla hands, but the Niko Charger-Grip makes it very comfortable.
The DS lite is a great improvement over previous Nintendo handhelds including the original ds. Importantly the system has an enormous library of games for both young and old. The drawbacks are the shape, graphics, and is easy to brake. If you looking to play movies and music get the Max media player 4gb hdd this adds some more fun to go.
nentendo tries to be as good as sony but it cant play movies or music so every buty out there pleas get a psp trust meeeeeeee not nentendo meeeee and later on in life nentendo is going to be left behind in hte dust. so pleas turust meeeeeeee for you people that like pokemon you guyis are gayyyyyy i agree with leadbaron...............so have you goton it.
It's....decent. The game library is excellent, but it's sad that you have to sift through mounds of crap (Yoshi Touch and Go), crappy ports (Goldeneye Rogue Agent, COD4), and puzzle games (Brain Age, Biig Brain Academy) to get to stuff thats good (MPH). The hinge, though better than the original, still is crap. Mine is loose, and the right side of it can pop up and down about a millimeter. Very annoying. Also, the glossy plastic on top of the white plastic isn't attatched at all, I can pull the middle below the touchscreen out, I can pull the top out, and lots of dirt gets stuck under there, which may one day drift to the screen. A good console let down by crappy build quality...Not to mention sub-par graphics, even for a handheld.
The DS lite, a gem of portable happiness. Apart from the fact that this is the first handheld games console to ever have two screens and touchscreen ability,(talking about DS and DS-L here) this is a major improvement on the DS. Sleeker, sexier and smaller, this is the pinnicle of interactivity. The graphics are not brilliant, but better than the 8-bit crap we have had with previous nintendo handhelds. The interactivity is a WOW factor (hence the touchscreen)and definitely the step up in the gaming industry that Nintendo needed. Keep it up!

Ah, the Nintendo DS. What more could one say? I’m going to try and rate this as objectively as possible. Since the new DS lite is essentially the same as the old I’m considering them both in this review. First off, this is by no means an adult gaming device. Anyone who is upset because it does not have TV out HD capabilities is playing with the wrong toy. You have to look at this product as it were geared towards children and the younger crowd. (I consider myself apart of that being born in the late 80’s.) It would be like trying get a 6 year old to invest his rolls of coin into investments. It’s just not practical and he would not understand its purpose. Just as many adults who purchase the DS and feel that they have been ripped off. Well that’s just the thing. Like I said, one has to see this as a youth oriented device.
Anyways, now that we’ve cleared that up let talk about the DS itself.

Feature set.
Graphics: Not great and it definitely would not be able to compete with the PSP, but If I remember correctly Edge magazine’s top 100 games off all time features more games from the 2D era than anything else. Actually, out of the top ten 4 were 2 dimensional and the number 3 and 1 spot went to Mario 64 and Ocarina of time. Both these games were some of the first in the 3D world. So looking at it from that perspective, I’d say that graphics are outweighed by game play presentation and storyline. Plus new Super Mario bros is just plain goodness in a cartridge.
Gameplay: Lets talk about Mario 64… The original Mario 64 relied heavily on the N64's analog joystick, so Mario 64 DS gives you a few different control options that attempt to emulate the control in different ways. By default, the game is configured to let you play without using the system's touch screen. The D pad is used for movement, and the buttons are used for jumping, ducking, attacking, and running. While you can also use the touch screen for running, the other two control modes are somewhat better suited for use with the touch screen, letting you shuffle the buttons around a bit to give you more control over your character. I think the methods incorporated for movement in this game are superb and could not have been mapped much better. This seems to go for all games. Most games that require the use of the touchpad and stylist are focus more on tactical elements rather than speed, which results in a more enjoyable game experience if you’re not too quick with the stick. One issue I did encounter was after the touch screen got a bit scratched up it was not as sensitive. Plus those little stylists are so easy to loose.
Price: Can’t beat it. For 130 dollars you’re not going to find a cheaper way to entertain yourself on the go. The games are not too expensive either. Although, 40 bucks is pretty steep for anyone under 12.
Feature set: I’d say for something as simple as a “Gameboy” it has a lot to offer. It has Wifi which can be a lot of fun with friends. Try playing Mario kart with 7 other people on their DS’s and you’ll know what I mean.
Also the chat feature is neat if you have friends that have DS’s as well.
And a big bonus is the backwards compatibility with GBA games. There is a little cartridge spot to put old games in. Some of my favourite Mario games are still playable on the go cause of this.
Other than that there are not a lot of features. But I wouldn’t expect it to. Like I said before, If you’re looking for a portable media center this is not it. The DS is a fun handheld (strictly related to gaming) that can keep me entertained for hours on end.
