Recently, Target made a similar move, one that would "increase the presence and support" of Blu-ray titles in its many stores, but it will continue to carry HD DVD, to a small extent.

Now we wait and see what Sam's Club and Costco do.
Then everyone is going to shift attention to Walmart. Once Walmart starts doing this for the bluray camp, then it may just be all downhill for HD.
So that's "exclusive" as in 'not at all exclusive'.....cos they're still selling HD DVD on-line.
Damm
I just bought a Toshiba HD-A2, now I'm starting to wonder is I should sell it again before it's too late?
But as much as I hate and loathe wal-mart, I guess that will be the deal breaker for either format.
HD-DvD FTW!!
Peace all
Target , Blockbuster and BJ’s Wholesale Club are only selling HD-DVD online, becasue they are just getting rid of whats left over.
WALMART is going blu-ray because they have special promo deals when you buy a ps3. They have HUGE BLU-RAY signs in the electronic section.
Intrestign this act of desperation might pay off it also could leave them falling through the floor, time will only tell if it will work or not.
Quote:However, if you look at the facts you will notice that Wally World (aka Wal-Mart) has a near equal selection of HD DVDs, which can be viewed here and Blu-Ray disks which can be viewed here. The difference is a scant 8 title "advantage" in favor of Blu-Ray.

Sony is saying we will not lose, like the betamax. They are paying companies to carry there product exclusive while also giving kickback to the studios for choosing blue ray discs. This is how I am seeing this.

well if you look at the specs blu-ray is much better.the stores choices are going to force movies studios that are dedicated to hd dvd to change to blu-ray or add it because that will increase their sells.the ps3 is a big deal here because a blu-ray player is in the console unlike xbox 360 where you must purchase the add-on and thats a big reason why blu-ray is looking more of a winner because the only news that ever pops up on afterdawn is blu-ray and ps3.peace

So basically they are taking a little risk and taking sides to some extent and then they hope that the Blu-Ray format will win the battle and if it doesn't they still have invested some level in to HD DVD as well.

yea but blu-ray is atleast making an effort that's why many think it will win.and after so many stores going exclusive the future looks bright.but at the moment these formats arent really needed.as soon as i heard about blu-ray and hd dvd i was like "where did that come from" even games on xbox360 and ps3 dont use the capacity of a dvd9 disk.so zippy i kinda agree but its the war highlights we're looking at now and im liking it so far.
