Android market hits 20,000 apps According to new figures from AndroLib, the Android Market has reached a new milestone, 20,000 applications, taking just five months to double up from 10,000.
Of course the number does not compare to Apple's 100,000+ App Store, but Android is a newer platform and handsets running the OS have had smaller sales than the iPhone and iPod Touch.

The figures show that almost 38 percent of the apps are paid while the rest are free.

The amount of new apps every month continues to grow as well, and should continue to do so given the increasing amount of Android handsets coming in 2010.

i knew this was going to happen. my dad forced me to switch to att in nov. with the family plan and i got a 3gs but i knew the android os and its respective phones would outshine the iphone before my 2 year contract is up.

and this article doesnt even include the stuff NOT in the android marketplace, all the sweet apps are distributed from websites.
