Google+ hits 20 million users One week after the company announced 10 million Google+ users, Google has now hit the next milestone, 20 million users.
The latest data comes via comScore, who says over 5 million are in the U.S., alone.

Says the research firm: "It is definitely the fastest ascent to 20 million visitors that I can think of."

For raw comparison, it took Twitter 750 days to reach its first 10 million, and Facebook 825 days to hit the same milestone, but of course those numbers are skewed given that they were pioneers of "social media" and startups.

CEO Larry Page noted during last week's earnings call that Google+ will remain in "field trial" open beta for the time being as it continues to expand access and functionality.

As soon it became "open" to the general public it will rich +200M in days since the existing registered Google users are 200M+ from Gmail alone ;)

It won't go much higher as there's nothing to do on it or with it.

It's pretty much useless as it is right now.

I couldn't agree more. I got the invite and thought to myself, NOW WHAT? My one buddy is 110% anti-Facebook and thinks that Google+ will over take them, but I think he's on drugs.

The +1 next to search items is a brilliant idea, but IMO they would've been better served striking a deal with FB and adding "like" buttons to it in an exchange for either search or advertising share through the FB website.

Actually, I don't think G+ will really kill FB. I'm sure FB will be here to stay. But with G+ now giving FB a real competition, we will all benefit by having an improved FB and a better G+.
