iPhone finally headed to China? China Mobile has said that they are closer than ever to striking a deal to distribute the Apple iPhone in China now that the largest hurdle in negotiations has been cleared, the dropping of revenue sharing.
Talks between the companies have been on and off for over a year, with no notable progress.

"We've broken through the biggest obstacle and we are negotiating at the working level,"
said Gao Songge, deputy director of China Mobile's general department.

Analysts expect the iPhone to hit the Chinese market in November but Songge would not given any timetable for its launch. The Chinese mobile phone market is the largest in the world, with almost 600 million users.

I was under the false impression that the Iphone was "made in china". I guess I learn something new everyday. whoever owns an Iphone can you look in the back and see where it was made. I'm just curious who makes them.

Final assembly is in Taiwan, but the parts come from the US, Korea, China and Taiwan.

Why are all these "iPhone releases in * country!!!!!!111111!" articles big news. I mean I'm sure there are already thousands of iPhones in China or Australia or Turkmenistan or whichever place is supporting them next. And I know it is quite easy to bid on ebay. So whats the big deal?
