Slim Xbox 360 hacked In a short forum post today, Team Xecuter, in conjunction with Team Jungle and C4E has said that the new slimmed down Xbox 360 250GB model has been hacked, allowing users to playback backups.
Poster "Xecuter" says the team has successfully patched the DVD-Rom drive.

While a pack that can be released to the general public is nowhere near done, the first and probably hardest step is now finished, reads the post.

Xecuter took time to respond to commenters, as well:

Comment: It's fake
Answer: We are Xecuter, C4E and Team Jungle. Duh.

Comment: ...Get rich quick scheme
Answer: You mean like all the other free firmwares released ? Xecuter finance everything in the group so you don't have to.

Comment: Does anyone knows a cheap decapping service in europe?
Answer: If only they still used the MT1319L, eh?

Thank goodness for Google translator.

Errr at the risk of being on topic..lol...It's no suprise they have cracked it. The main difference is just the shape of the system. It was just another drive to figure out in the chain of the ones they already have done. Just goes to show Microsoft really didn't change much...Smart money says pick up a cheap old style arcade...

And a bigger HDD, it'd still be cheaper than the slim

Still no ISO loader. Physical media = disks to steal (or let borrow never to return) and disks to damage.

If that ISO loader for the PS3 really appears, I'll be buying a PS3 + Red Dead Redemption and Halo: Reach...maybe Fallout New Vegas, but most likely I'll buy that last one for the PC.

Wow...it isn't often I can speak well of sony...but when the first PS3 is still uncracked, and a 360 that was just released is already cracked, it seems sony really does have some good engineers. If only they were put to some good use doing something other than DRM.

HOpe they can figure out how to softmod these ones. It was much easier than tearing down a computer and hookin it up to one of these.

Eh I heard the PS3 was cracked sometime ago just not as easily done by the novice but that could be wrong...but as I said earlier this was just a different case on a very similar 360...cracking a new drive version is pretty old hat by now...

PS3 hasn't been "cracked" Geohot just found a hypervisor exploit in OtherOS. But now that Geohot has been payed off by Sony PS3 is still secure.
