Laura Hadland, just weeks after creating a "toast" mosaic from over 9000 pieces of toast has moved on to her next project, an Avatar mosaic that uses 4000 Blu-ray discs.
Hadland says 20th Century Fox commercially printed her the discs (in the colors she needed) and from there the mosaic was completed within a few hours.

The mosaic was a gift to her husband, who was a big fan of the movie.

It was put together on the floor of the London Film Museum.

Avatar is the top selling movie of all time, making $2.8 billion worldwide. Sequels are slated for 2013 and later.

She is a cheater. She should have done it with off-the-shelf blurays; not a bunch of custom color disks that still don't match the intended colors.

She really must have nothing better to do with her time :P

u have no life...

Wouldn't it have been cheaper and looked exactly the same for her to use custom-colored CDs?

How is this news? WHO CARES? lol

I didn't see anyone comment about the toast mosaic yet, so I will. What, 9000?!
Anyways, this is pretty cool but blu-ray seems a bit much for a mosaic that could've used CDs and looked exactly the same

And how is this news?

1319.11.2010 23:56

over 9000!

1419.11.2010 23:59

lets do some math i found a spindel of memorex 25gb single layer disc's; not the best but hell we're going to put them all over the floor anyway, for 20.00 second hand. Thats about .75 cents a disc.

That's roughly $3000.00.

Granted not her money but still...that's a lot of cheddar. So this is what the MPAA does with the money they get from suing people...I'm in the wrong line of work.

So you got me a picture of an avatar made out of blu-ray discs huh? Couldn't you have just got me the movie on a single blu-ray disc then got me a blu-ray player? After words we could have sex in the remaining $2700. Now that's a good birthday gift!!
