One Modern Warfare 3 disc stolen and leaked

Without a doubt the most highly anticipated game of the month is Activision's Modern Warfare 3, the latest in the Call of Duty blockbuster franchise.
This weekend, it appears part of the PC version of the game was stolen from a shipping warehouse in California.

The disc has inevtitably leaked its way to warez, p2p and torrent sites.

Because the disc is disc 2 of a two-disc set, it isn't particularly useful but some pirates have already tried playing it online.

Activision is shutting down that kind of behavior, however, with one pirate claiming he was fined $5000 for trying to play the game. "Do not buy MW3 before release date. They will come get you. I already went through it," said the pirate.

MW3 will be released on November 8th and Activision is expecting 20 million sales across all platforms in 2011.

Im surprised there hasnt been a leak with one of the console versions. Ive already started seeing ads out here on craigslist offering to sell copies for the 360 and PS3.

It won't be too much longer for a region free MW3 to pop up for the 360. Skyrim is already making the rounds :)

There is a leak of 360 version as well, just hasn't hit the news or mainstream yet. For obvious legal reasons I am not siting where to find them. There is also a leaked version of Skyrim which isn't supposed to hit until 11/11/11.

Come on

Companies don't have the power to issue fines. Judges do. It takes weeks, months or years to go through the court system, not 24 hours. Who reports that kind of non sense?

Doesn't mean he paid the $5000. The RIAA is not a judge but they have no problem sending out letters asking for $3500 for piracy.

And yet PIRACY BAD, once launched, I bet you Activision will hit its 20 million projected sales.

im not sure a copy was stolen.retailers would of had it before release date and maybe 1 of them tryed to leak it.

he's not a pirate, A pirate would know that each and every game sold for a console has a unique identifier. a pirate would know to strip that identifier before he plays.

what you have here is a dumbass end user who thought he was a pirate or labeled a pirate, big difference.

if the retailer employee removed a copy of the game without ringing it up, he stole. i highly doubt the said retailer employee paid for it because even if the game was in the Retailers Computer system it would say something like XXX product is not available for sale until XXX date.
