SubRip v1.52.0

Open source
Vista / Win2k / Win7 / Win8 / WinXP
SubRip allows you to rip subtitles from your DVDs. The program saves subtitles in its own textformat (which is supported by most of the DivX players), in BMP format (which can be used with SuperVCDs), and a number of different formats as well.

Program uses semi-automatic text recognizing technology (dubbed as OCR) in order to parse the subtitles into text files (DVD subtitles are stored in picture format, not in text format -- that's why they need to be recognized as characters before they can be stored in text format). The process is fairly simple, although user (read: your own typos, etc) errors are pretty annoying to fix afterwards.

An excellent program and highly recommendable for those of us who prefer to have subtitles (always the better option than having the movie dubbed in some weird language).

We recommend that you read AfterDawn.com's guide for using SubRip as well. You can find the guide from here.

SubRip v1.53.0

Not good for Asian character sets. I tried it with a Japanese movie & it really struggled to recognise characters.

I had to re-enter each character 5-8 times (as it came across them each time). Because its storing multiple versions of the same character, the matrix ran out of memory 30% of the way in and crashed... yeah, dont use it for non-alphanumeric subs.

Hyvä ohjelma, paletin voi tallentaa myöhempää käyttöä varten, jolloin rippaus on nopeaa ja yksinkertaista. Osaa myös korjata omat virheensä, kuten ""->" ja on helppo käyttää. Paras rippausohjelma.
