Facebook and Microsoft have announced that one of the world's most popular games, Minecraft, will have its own virtual reality version soon.

Samsung executive Peter Koo took to the stage at the Oculus Connect event this week, announcing the updated Gear VR, which apparently will be ready in time for Black Friday.

Sony has changed the name of its Project Morpheus VR system to PlayStation VR, a move that should help bring big name recognition to the fledgling device.

According to multiple source, Oculus VR could begin rolling out their Oculus Rift VR headset for consumers starting next summer.

Nintendo has confirmed VR is not part of the plan when it comes to the Wii U, as the tech is in direct contrast to what the company is looking to with the console.

Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe has conservative expectations for the first-generation consumer model of the Rift headset, saying he hopes for just north of a million units [in sales] over the life of the first consumer version of the Oculus Rift.

Newly appointed head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has said that Virtual Reality (VR) is not a fad after Xbox co-creator Ed Fries cast doubt on its potential to help Xbox One beat PS4.

Following Facebook's acquisition of Oculus VR, it appears some of the brightest in the industry are not scared to join the team.
