"How many users are online?" feature added

Wanted to mention that I just added a small, funny little feature to our site today. Now, at the bottom of each page, you can see how many simultaneous users there are browsing through our site.
Average seems to be now around 800, this figure includes our "AfterDawn.com Network" -- i.e. AfterDawn.com, forums, Dawnload.net and MP3Lizard.com. Some sort of a break-down of these figures will be added shortly as well for those of you who are interested of various weird statistics :-)

How many users do you have????

Umh, overall we get around million visitors a month, slightly over. And we have appx. 26,000 registered members -- the thingy in the bottom of the page shows ALL visitors who are using the site RIGHT NOW, i.e. at the same time as you are.

D'you reckon you get a lot of people who sign up just to get a question answered and then never login again??

Yeah, too much. The system that we introduced in spring this year, that requires people to "activate" their accounts (==requiring real, valid email address), has pushed this number down quite a lot, but we still get those casual registrations.

how many users do you have now? I know you guys broke the million a while back. do you have any graph statistics or what. Sometimes when I see those user statistics it boggles your mind to think how many people are actually connected at once, you guys must have some mad bandwith/data issues.

We have appx. 3-4M unique visitors each month and 320,000 registered users now.
