Buying and selling forums added

Buying and selling forums added After years of repeated requests, AfterDawn has finally added two forum rooms that allow users to buy and sell goods using our forums and private message system. Up until now attempts at trading on the forum were usually blocked, but since so many people asked for dedicated forums, we finally decided to facilitate.
Sell your stuff
http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/226

Buy stuff
http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/227

There are of course limitations on what you can advertise for sale and what you can request in these forums, as well as stricter rules. Bare in mind that these forums are presented as is, AfterDawn does not actually offer a new "system" specifically for trading goods, just appropriately named forums where users can choose to do so. The responsibility for items or money exchanged is with the users involved.

Make sure you read and understand the rules if you are interested in using either of those forum rooms.

Xbox pirate pegged for the slammer
US District Court hands eight-month sentence to Pandora's Cube employee for "Super Xboxes."
By Tim Surette, GameSpot
Posted Jul 27, 2005 11:57 pm GMT

31-year-old Hitesh Patel was an employee of Pandora's Cube, a game retailer in the Washington, DC area. He managed one of the three local stores and served as the technician for all three. The stores sell current-gen consoles and games, as well as anime and hentai DVDs.

However, Patel also sold another product on the side: Super Xboxes. The modified consoles, which were displayed in plain view, ran customers $500 and featured larger hard drives and the ability to play illegally copied games. Many of the units already came with several games preloaded.

Patel pled guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit felony copyright infringement and to violating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. For his crimes, Patel will serve eight months--four in jail and four in house arrest. After eight months, he'll be subject to two years of probation.

"We are grateful for the work of US law enforcement and prosecutors for bringing this defendant to justice," said Douglas Lowenstein, president of the Entertainment Software Association, the trade association representing US computer and video game publishers. "Sentences of this magnitude send a strong message to the pirate community that intellectual property theft is a serious crime with serious consequences."

The illegal units were discovered in a raid conducted December 1 by federal authorities. Three more Pandora's Cube employees are up for sentencing next month.
So far 4 items which could be seen to be flouting this law have been posted.

3) The only approved method to contact the seller or buyer is by using the private message functionality on our forums. This means that you can't post your email address, your MSN/ICQ/AIM/etc contact details, your phone number or other personal contact details.

So this means we can not pay each other?

the point of PMs is that you can trade such info and cyber *rolls eyes*.

1114.3.2008 00:24

just that it means you can't post that info in public just like before on other forums. the emails & others can still be done by pm just like before.

Ok why can't I sell a game without a box but have the manual?

Hell why can't I sell off my discs I lost the stuff too?
explain this to me?

I had a nice lil Saturn game House of the dead sold it off on ebay for 30$ disc only, some things can sell well for disc only...

heck I even have a FFX case and manual I got in a lot I bought off Ebay if someone has the game and wants to replace their box/manual.

Just saying the "I will sale off my discs but put my copies in the cases " rule implies to much, as long as items are properly described there should be no problems.... as long as you are not selling copies, the focus is on retail products.

zippy am surprised? i can make a burned 360 look as real as the original i just need some nice paper+good ink+ACOUSTICA and BAM i have a burned 360 game that looks brand spanking new, a case cant be made as easy though....!~of course they need a modded console but through PM anything is possible, AD just doesn't want any MPAA on their ass......i guess this argument makes a better case for DVD's though,

look what saugmon made (anyone can)

woah woah I am not saying anything about copies I am talking about discs of you sht you lost the cases to, its legit, worthless without the legit key but not all games have keys on the case.

computer programs or licenses to computer programs (or products that can be classified as computer programs). Only exceptions to this rule are original, "boxed" console and computer games, which can be sold via our site.
This pretty much states no box, case and manual no sell, and heavily frowns on used games.

Meaning you must not only have the retail disc but the retail insert that the code came on.

This is much more precise and lenient to my mind than the word "boxed".
