Wal-Mart selling Palm Pre for $80

Just one day after Amazon dropped the price of the popular Palm Pre smartphone to $100 USD, Wal-Mart has begun selling the phone for $80 USD with two-year contract with exclusive carrier Sprint.
The phone has a 3.1-inch touchscreen with 480x320 resolution and a slider design which hides a full QWERTY keyboard. More notably, the phone uses Palm's own WebOS Linux-based operating system, which offers multitasking for applications and "Synergy" for contacts integration.

$80 is the cheapest the phone has ever sold for, and will likely help boost sales headed into the holiday season.

I'm personally looking to get the new Sony Erriccson Idou with the Symbian OS. I just hope the phone actually gets released in America as it's rumored to. And that it is released with AT&T. If not then I either have to switch carries, or buy it unlocked ... yeaaah lol. I'd rather stick with what I have if it comes to that.

You know if your are within 30 days of your upgrade date, you can call customer service and request to have your upgrade change.

The cost of the phone is pretty much irrelevant -- the cost of the plan for the minimum allowed contract period, usually 2 years, swamps it out. What's $20 difference when you'll be stuck with the thing for two years and you'll potentially pay out from $1200 to $2500 for the "plan"? The way these dumb things are marketed makes no sense at all. Much better to buy your phone on eBay and deal with your plan provider month to month. That way when a better phone comes along, you can get it.
