Zuckerberg to give $100 million to Newark public schools According to the NYTimes, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will donate $100 million dollars to the Newark, New Jersey public school system, which has long been underfunded.
The donation will be made official on an upcoming Oprah Winfrey show.

Furthermore, the gift would be the first "installment in an education endowment" to be started by the world's youngest multi-billionaire.

While he is currently not worth much, when Facebook eventually goes public Zuckerberg's fortune has been estimated at between $5 - $7 billion.

Currently, the Newark schools have an $800 million annual operating budget, so Zuckerberg's gift is more than significant.

The only condition of the gift is that the state give back "some" control of the city's school system to mayor Cory Booker.

Good use of your money, helping to give back.

While I'm glad to see him giving a bunch of money to a great cause, isn't the $100 million more of a pledge?

Zuckerberg probably has a current net worth of under $1 million and can't "give" the school $100M that he doesn't have, unless he is giving them a percentage of his future Facebook stock.

The schools are bad by design; the government does not want people thinking. This $100 million will just go towards more brainwashing.

CORRECT! They are DELIBERATELY dumbing down all our children in accordance with AGENDA 21. Please You Tube this information: "Agenda 21 For Dummies". It's real, it's UNITED NATIONS mandated and is HAPPENING. Get used to being broke. America will burst soon and is taking the dollar with it. Be a sheeple if you want... or wake the hell up.

Zuckerberg made the Forbes 400 list, his value at approximately $6 Billion. His value is higher than Steve Jobs. ---Chikn

Killerbug and Jaymes have it right. It's by design. The money won't change much unfortunately. Check out "The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America" by Charlotte Iserbyt.

Imagine how much he could've pledged if he'd just sold the rights to the facebook film. I mean, they made it anyway, n he could've looked like a really super nice guy if then he'd put all the money into schools or charity or something else worthy.
