HTC could be looking into buying own mobile OS According to Focus Taiwan, HTC is looking into purchasing its own mobile operating system.
Cher Wang of HTC, when asked about their future smartphones, said "we [HTC] can use any OS we want," and then confirmed the company had held internal meeting on perhaps obtaining their own OS.

Currently, the device makers has Windows Phone 7 and Android devices and has been a strong supporter of Google's decision to purchase Motorola Mobility for its patent portfolio.

That being said, like other smartphone makers in the market, it is clear the Motorola's hardware division could gain advantages from having Google as its parent, and could look elsewhere.

"Our strength lies in understanding an OS, but it does not mean we have to produce an OS," adds Wang.

One analysis says HP's maligned webOS could be a target.

No one wants webOS...it is a cancer; everyone who has it either dies or cuts it away at great cost.

Hint for HTC:
You can no longer count on MotoBlur to make Motorolla phones inferior, and it won't be long before they have multiple 4G models just like you. You now have to start making quality hardware with the features that your customers are asking for...use quality batteries, include speakers that are audible from more than 1/2 inch, offer a keyboard version of your flagship, and don't require external accessories for built-in functions (I should not need to plug in headphones to act as an extra antenna when I am listening to FM radio on my bluetooth headset). Also, you can fight google-motorola by adding the features that google is to lazy to add. Nothing to fancy, just things that google has thousands of people asking for and which could easily be done in a day...like mono bluetooth audio support

I think it might be a whole lot better idea if they set software engineers / programmers to convert the Android platform to be based on BSD which is free and the user DOES NOT have to make their own addons to the system available to others of patents free.

Learn from Apple, stupids.
