KT, the second largest wireless carrier in South Korea, has confirmed and apologized to its users that it was hacked.
The personal data of 8.7 million subscribers was stolen, and two computer programmers have been arrested for their part in the robbery.
That number is very significant as KT only has 16 million subscribers.
Included in the data were names, phone numbers and resident registration numbers.
All future illegal access to the data has been blocked, says the carrier. The attacks began in February, admitted KT.
