Samsung has confirmed that it will release multiple phones with the Tizen mobile OS this year.
The company has had an on-an-off love affair with Tizen since early last year, when it was first announced. The OS is notable because it is backed by Intel, as well and has support from Japanese major carrier DoCoMo and global powerhouse Vodafone.
Says the company: "We plan to release new, competitive Tizen devices within this year and will keep expanding the lineup depending on market conditions."
There was no word on any specific dates nor any specs.
Sources have reported that the phones will be released for DoCoMo in Japan first.
