dvd::rip v0.98.11

Freeware
Linux
dvd:rip is a all-in-one opensource DVD ripping solution for Linux that supports subtitles; XviD, DivX, VCD and SVCD video formats and AC3, Ogg Vorbis and MP3 audio formats.

Tool allows easy cropping and resizing with preview windows and easy-to-use selections. Other features of the tool include chapter splitting, several different deinterlace filters and integrated bitrate calculator. And to add something that Windows users don't have, program can be used in Linux clusters (meaning that you can use multiple computers to work on the same movie, reducing the ripping and encoding time dramatically).

Due the legislation changes in Germany, the program doesn't come bundled with a ripper that's capable of circumventing the CSS copy protection mechanism.

dvd::rip v0.97.4 (unstable)

I've been using this software for a couple of years and it is really great. It will rip, encode, burn and do just about anything you need for DVD's. I have a How-to on my website to get it up and running. It's really very simple!!

dvd::rip is all you need. it handles every ripping need and does so with a nice ui. basically only thing missing is converting subtitles to text-based format, for that you need some OCR-program.
a very nice and complete linux ripping solution.
