Phalanx is a handy powerful spam filter app for POP3 accounts, compatible with many mail clients.
Phalanx supports APOP (MD5) and secure connections (SSL) for authenticaton on the mail server.
It manages blacklists and whitelists, can compare IP to a DNSBL database, a URL to a URLBL database and more.
