Lead-out

The Lead-out is an area of a DVD disc that follows a data area. On a single layer disc or an Opposite Track Path (OTP) dual-layer disc, this is a physical 1mm or wider area that is located toward the outside of the disc following the data area. For a Parallel Track Path (PTP) dual-layer disc, this is a physical area, 1.2mm or wider located toward the inside of the disc following the data area. Lead-out helps a player or device determine where the data ends and serves a warning if the device is seeking data sectors and has gone too far.
