Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers
The The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, or SMPTE is an organization that works closely with the film and television industries to develop and implement technical standards. SMPTE is divided into sections by geographical area, with each one offering workshops, tutorials, and workshops for members.
SMPTE standards cover topics ranging from audio and video reproduction to analog and digital transmission of audio-visual material. SMPTE also works with other worldwide organizations like ITU and IEEE to establish more universal standards like ITU-R BT.601, which is the primary standard for digitizing analog video signals.
