HD DVD Promotion Group

The HD DVD Promotion Group is a group that advocates for the HD DVD format. In 2003, the DVD Forum selected HD DVD to be the next generation of DVD technology to store higher capacities of data and to accommodate for the next step in the evolution of video technology known as High Definition. The DVD Forum put its support behind HD DVD because it is based on the current DVD format, meaning that manufacturers can use reliable technology to produce HD DVD discs at a reasonable cost. The HD DVD Promotion Group is a worldwide entity that pushes the advantages of the HD DVD format around the world.

The group says it, "aims to exchange views and thoughts to help promote the HD DVD format based contents and products into the marketplace and share its promotional activity among members to encourage the broad acceptance of HD DVD on a world wide basis among members of the group, related industries and the public." The Chair Company of the group is Toshiba Corp (also secretary), Vice Chair Companies are Memory-Tech Corporation, NEC Corporation and the Auditor is SANYO Electric Co., Ltd.
